Meadow Pineapple Spinach Smoothie

4.3(528 ratings)

Using just a little spinach keeps this smoothie closer to yellow than green, with the tropical fruit leading and the greens quietly in the background. Fresh turmeric deepens the golden color and orange juice keeps it bright. The clover blossoms are edible and purely decorative; pick them only from unsprayed ground, or swap in a few mint leaves.

Method

  1. Step 1: Blend the orange juice, water, spinach and peeled turmeric on high until the liquid is smooth and a vivid green with no pieces of turmeric remaining.

  2. Step 2: Add the frozen pineapple, mango and hemp hearts and blend for about a minute, until the color settles into an even yellow-green and the texture is thick.

  3. Step 3: Rinse the clover blossoms gently in cold water and pat them dry on a towel, pulling away any brown or wilted petals.

  4. Step 4: Pour the smoothie into glasses and float a few blossoms on each surface just before serving, ideally outdoors in the sunshine.
