Orange Carrot Ginger Juice

4.2(74 ratings)

Adding a few carrots to orange juice gives it a richer color, a silkier body and an earthy sweetness that balances the citrus acidity. Ginger adds warmth that builds slowly with each sip. Peeling the oranges before juicing matters here; the oils in the peel can overwhelm everything else and upset sensitive stomachs.

Method

  1. Step 1: Peel the oranges with a knife, leaving a little of the white pith for body, and cut them into quarters that fit your juicer.

  2. Step 2: Scrub the carrots, trim the ends and cut them into lengths, then peel the ginger with the edge of a teaspoon.

  3. Step 3: Juice the oranges, lemon, ginger and carrots, alternating soft citrus with firm carrots so the machine does not clog.

  4. Step 4: Stir well, pour into a hurricane glass over ice if you like and set a whole orange beside it on a dark surface to serve.
