Chilled Hemp and Date Milk

4.9(437 ratings)

Hemp milk is the quiet workhorse of a nut-free kitchen, ready in two minutes with no soaking at all. A generous handful of seeds makes it creamy and surprisingly filling, and dates balance their green, grassy edge. Pour it into school flasks, over raw cereal, or straight into a glass after a workout.

Method

  1. Step 1: Put the hemp seeds, water, dates, cinnamon, vanilla and salt into a blender and blend on high for about one minute until smooth.

  2. Step 2: Taste the milk and adjust with another date or a little more cinnamon, then blend for a few more seconds to combine.

  3. Step 3: Pour into a jar and chill for 30 minutes so the grassy notes mellow and the milk becomes properly cold and refreshing.

  4. Step 4: Shake or stir, pour into two glasses and scatter a few hemp seeds on the counter or the surface for a simple finish.
