We use it for dry rubs for dehydrated vegetables, homemade chili crisp without cooking, and cracked pepper for cashew cheese. The deep bowl keeps spices from flying out, and the weight means the mortar never slides. It also works well for mashing avocado into a chunky guacamole right at the table.
